Spider!

Click photo for larger image

Anyone know what kind of spider this is? I live in Colorado and found this spider in my window well. It's a little bit bigger than a silver dollar. I don't see any webs nearby and seems to seek shelter in a small crack. I've never seen this big of spider here in Colorado!

great job at hardrock, i'm impressed. sounds like you're recovering pretty well.

that looks like a wolf spider. they are considered to be non-aggressive but will bite if provoked. Their venom isn't lethal or highly dangerous, however, the bite will likely be a bit painful and produce swelling. It is a ground dwelling spider and doesn't spin a web. Having landscaped for a while I became acquainted with quite a few of Colorado's creepy-crawlers. Hope the info helps.

I tend to agree. It looks like a wolf. We have several here in Utah. Back in 1992, I had an experience with a wolf but it never bit. I named it Jackie. Sure was furry.
