22 myles - 2.41:25

Wildcat Ridge - 2 PM
30s, clear, a little windy
mind/body - good
easy effort

Last run before the snipity-snip so I made 4 loops of this course - 40:33, 40:38, 40:24, 39:48. Initially I thought I'd make this my very own Fat Ass 50K (since I'm going to miss El Chubbo Grande) but just ran out of time and energy. Felt decent with a 7:20 pace and relatively flat with only 800 ft of climbing.

The pamphlet for the procedure said only 5 days away from exercise but the doc says two weeks. Maybe better to adhere to the doc and in the meantime become easily agitated and gain 20 pounds. Better watch what I eat.

2 weeks is rubbish. I was back to riding the bike after 3 days, pain free (but not itch free). Having said that, you deserve some time off and you should take it. Good luck.

Gotta agree with Christian on this one. I felt like I could have run after a few days. Although the itching drove me crazy for weeks. Have fun.

I have a streak, so ran very gingerly for 20mins the next day. Then increased 10mins a day for a few days before doing a fairly solid track workout a week after. Just be sure to ice well.

But yeah, it's not a bad time of the year to take a bit of a break.

My doctor said not to ice at all.

I had pain that lasted for several days and finally got fed up after 6 days and went for a run. I had to wear bike shorts for the next week, even taking it easy. Maybe its because my balls are the size of basketballs or something that I am more sensitive.

In all seriousness, my point is everyone is different, so whatever you do, listen to your body and you'll be fine.

To hell with the doc, you know the saying "run fast and take chances!"
You do know this makes you slower and less motivated, right? Just checking.

After I got snipped I almost caught you at HRH in 2009. But, the stitches came out on the descent off Grant-Swamp and you beat me. Won't happen again! AJW

Nice one Ajaydub!

From the comments, it looks like I'll be ready to go in no time so come run El Chubbo Grande on 12/18. I'll be sure to have your beer open when you get done...

Frozen peas are your friend, ice for a couple of days, then start out easy. That's what I did and was fine, my friend on the other hand went hiking the next day and had a seriously swollen set shortly there after! Some kind of support is good and if they offer the little pill take it! Not a good time to be stressing out. Hah

Make sure you have the beer inventory up to date.If not, have the wife make an emergency run.Oh, and use it to ice the boys down.

procedure went smooth. piece o cake. no pain cause those little white pills are great! recovery should be quick, doc says 4 or 5 days and then back at it. Fridge is stocked so I guess go have a cold one.

I'll pencil you in for the Chubby JV race, but hope to see you line up with the big boys.

Fast Ed,

Just started reading your blog. Loved the HR report and the "blessing" video. I had "something" done a few yeaqrs ago. Ran a marathon a week after and no issues. Frozen peas are your friend. Anyways, look forward to reading more of your reports.
